Sometimes people are just mean and it's as simple as that. Other times, it goes deeper, rooting from things like having a bad personal life/family life. Sometimes the bully has been or is being bullied themselves. Also, bullying could sprout from jealousy so people could be mean to a person to tear them down a little bit because they are jealous of that person. However, on Instagram there are some pages that are very popular and people from all over the world see these posts that often speak about controversial topics and strangers will comment back and forth mean things to each other, I've seen that.
