Hi! My name is Valeria Guadalupe and I’m a 15 year old sophomore. I was born in Puerto Rico although my last name was originated in Mexico, I get that a lot. I have a 2 year old French Bulldog named Valentino. My hobbies and interests include watching Netflix’s, listening to music, watching sports, going to the beach, spending time with my family, going on trips, taking walks, and cooking. I genuinely can’t decide a single movie to be categorized as “my favorite” but I love watching the whole MCU movies. My favorite shows are The Rookie and Grey’s Anatomy. I love listening to music, especially in Spanish. Some of my favorite artists are Bad Bunny, Juan Luis Guerra, Latin Mafia, Rawayana, and Cultura Profética. As to for fun, I enjoy making plans with family and friends and visiting new places. My favorite type of food has to be Puerto Rican cuisine, I love rice, beans, mofongo, and everything that is typical. The best restaurant in Miami is “Mofongo” en la Calle Ocho and it’s a Puerto Rican restaurant. The coolest place to check out in Miami is Vizcaya, it’s such a beautiful place to take pictures and learn a bit of its history.

Future Goals

My Future plans firstly consist of graduating high school knowing that I gave it my all throughout the years I spent studying and that it was all for a great scholarship and bright future. I want to pursue higher education, become a professional in my workplace. I have interest in the human brain and would like to study neurology or something related. Most importantly, I want to grow as a person, daughter, student, and friend. I’m a proud Christian and I want to further develop my relationship with God, fully surrender to him, and follow in his footsteps. As for a university I want to attend, I don’t have a clear choice. However, I’m interested in University of Florida, Cornell, Stanford, University of Miami, and John Hopkins. My dream job in to open a clinic of my own, have my credentials, assist everyone who comes to me, and mentor young minds who would want to pursue a similar career path.

Accomplishments

I have had many academic achievements and I am so proud of myself for them. I have, since little, been very involved in my academics and have always strived for greatness. Since I have been at COHEA, I have earned recognitions such as, Student of the Year for 6th and 8th grade, I had the opportunity to speak at my 8th grade Promotion, I have received many Paw Awards, and most importantly my grades have always met my standards and goals for each year. I am dedicated to everything I do and always give my 110% percent, both to my studies and personal life. In the near future I hope to graduate with a full ride scholarship to any university that I have my eye on, it may be ambitious, but I know that I am capable to achieve it if I set my mind to it. My strength consists of being determined, open minded, honest, kind, hard working, curious, intelligent, and caring. Some of my weaknesses are being sensitive, demanding, wanting control of situations, and stubborn if stressed. I absolutely believe that everyone should keep improving in all aspects because no one should comfort themselves with how they are. I’m happy with the path that I’m taking but change is necessary to be a powerful and successful.

My Moment

A time in which I felt on top of the world was when I traveled to Chicago during the winter. It was my first time seeing and feeling snow. It was such a wonderful experience that I wish everyone had the opportunity to enjoy. I feel like there are many moments in which I could feel satisfaction for something that I did or received, but in this case I’m just grateful I was able to go on that trip with my mom and be the happiest person. This year I also received a letter from Congress of Future Medical Leaders Award of Excellence. Which basically invites me to Boston, Massachusetts next summer to represent the state of Florida and watch a live surgery. This opportunity was very spontaneous and exciting, I am going to attend next summer and do my first visit to Boston. I couldn’t be more proud of myself to have received a letter and the opportunity.

Embarrassing Moment

My most embarrassing moment was when I was younger, around 7 years old and I fractured my wrist riding my bicycle. I was riding my bike in PR in my neighborhood at the time, everything was going well until I went down a small, miniature, hill and I lost total control of my bike. Long story short, instead of choosing to ride into the grass, I rode directly into a cement column. Needless to say, my bikes front wheel wheeled off, I busted my lip, my knee got scraped, and I broke the fall with my wrist. Very chaotic event, went to the emergency room and got a cast for three weeks. Mind you, this all occurred during my summer vacations going into my second grade year.

Favorite Assignment

I honestly I love projects and creative assignments. Specially if they include color or drawing on paper. I’m not a fan of digital painting are posters because I’m not very good in navigating those types of websites like Canva, but I definitely enjoy doing personalized projects.
