Pehaps, celebrating those who have come from very diverse backgrounds and sharing their positive changes or good news.<br><br>Manaakitanga:<br>Respecting both the social workers and clients personal and professional boundaries. Showing authenticity. Asking and acknowledging that perhaps the environment may be uncomfortable and respecting whether or not there is any other possible way we could work to make the space more comfortable for the client.<br><br>Whanaungatanga:<br>If we show that we are genuine and that we are being transparent and open from the begining it demonstrates that we are honest. Ensuring that we respect and cherish their values and beliefs. Letting them know that they have the right to say and feel what ever it is that they want to say and feel, building on the sense of belonging and helping them feel comfortable within themselves.&nbsp;<br><br>Aroha:<br>Identifying the clients strengths so that they become more aware of the tools that they might be able to use to help overcome their struggles, as well as enhancing/ empowering them to meet their needs and goals within the focus of their wellbeing.&nbsp;<br><br>Kotahitanga:<br>As the social worker we work to maintain professionalism and a non-judgemental mindset within the rights of the treaty so as to build on a sense of community. Advocate&nbsp; against injustice by following and adhering to the clients needs/ the ANZASW code of ethics/ the treaty core principles.&nbsp;<br><br>Matatoa:<br>When conflicted by a confronting, uncomfortable and challenging situation we as social workers work to maintain professionalism. We use reflection as a tool to enhance or motivate a difficult or overwhelming conversation with a client. This may help to relate or find some sort of common ground with the client also. We reflect with colleagues and supervisors.<br><br>Wairuatanga:<br>Establishing a self-care plan, helping the client to understand their own personal self-care methods towards regrounding their wairuatanga. </div>]]></description>
