A problem for students who have ASD is a deficiency in communication skills. A solution is to instead of trying to force the child to speak, use hand gestures like "thumbs up" to signify mood, schoolwork progress, etc.

Problem: difficulty communicating with others
Solution: develop a social skills card game. Create two decks of cards with the words "sender" and "receiver." Then have the second deck say topics for communication. This helps students with autism practice their social skills and communicate with their peers.
