Barcas and Selbst would have categorized the problem as an example of overrepresentation. Hustle was quite vocal in opposing what he perceived as excessive attention by the LAPD to an area that Operation Laser had targeted as a gang related crime hot spot, his store, where he was shot and killed. While there is no causation between the algorithm identifying the potential for crime at that location and the actual death of Nipsy Hustle, there is some tragic irony here.
