In July 1983, Nintendo launched the FC Red and White machine (usually called the red and white machine in mainland Hong Kong and Taiwan, and the NES(Nintendo Entertainment System) in Europe and the United States), which was the first attempt at a cassette video game platform. The system was very successful, selling over half a million units in two months. The platform is highly technical, and the price is cheap, about 100 dollars. However, after several months of popularity, Nintendo began to receive complaints that the Red and white machines were prone to crash when players were playing certain games. The problem occurred with a faulty chip, and Nintendo decided to recycle the stock in all stores, which lost a lot of money, but achieved good word of mouth.

The Nintendo 64 was released in Japan on November 24, 1995, and was a huge success, selling more than 500,000 units on the first day. However, the lack of game software (with only three software releases for the console) meant that the N64's release ended after a few weeks, and new games were still months away. On September 29, 1996, Nintendo also released the Nintendo 64 in the United States and Canada, selling 1.7 million units in just three months, and some skeptical third-party game producers took advantage of the media hype to make a significant amount of money.

In May 2004, Nintendo announced plans for a new console, the Nintendo DS, unrelated to the Game Boy. It had a dual screen (touch screen below) and was officially launched on November 21, 2004, receiving over 300 orders. In addition to the pen screen, the Nintendo DS also has the ability to display 3D computer graphics, although its hardware does not support material filtering, but it is still better than the N64 graphics.

On June 3, 2012, Nintendo introduced the Wii U GamePad, a handheld game console controller with a 6.2-inch 854×480 pixel screen, stereo speakers, microphone, front-facing camera, and NFC card reader and TV remote control. At this point, the Wii has begun to evolve from a simple game console into a different type of product. With hardware acceleration and a 3-axis gyroscope, the device controls games as intuitively as the Wii, making it easy to control games without touching the console. It supports online social networking, allows players to create Mii avatars and displays players' interests, and comes with a stylus that can send simple text as well as handwritten messages. The Wii U GamePad comes in black and white.
