The coat would be made of elegant black velvet, with a garland of red tulips (our family's flower) and a graland of tulip's long leaves next to it, both along the edges, going around the base of the neckline. These two garlands would be beautifully embroidered with vibrant metallic red thread.
The high neck and cuffs woulde be of white silk sateen, with another red garland of tulip's leaves embroidered.
On the back, two red tulips crossed at the beginnig of the tails, and then the same two garlands going down the tails.
Inside, black silk lining.
This would be our court coat for formal ceremonias.

I have chosen Mauveine as I love the fact it was discovered accidentally by a Victorian. I have also chosen gold and silver colours for the embroidery and EU blue for the cuff turnbacks. I have chosen the symbol of the co-operative movement (the bee hive and bees) for back and linked that to a honeycomb design. I have also chosen EU flag stars. I think people will gather that I am not really a royalist! Modern technology could be used to order these online. You could select your colours, designs, sizes an, fabrics etc and then have a 3D complete model to view before ordering.

My personal preference is red with black, but I wanted to steer away from the classic Hussar colours entirely. I designed a knotwork ermine spot that I have used throughout the braid work. I used gold for the yellow leine worn in Ireland. I do goldwork embroidery, so I had to gob the design up with it, and the Morris acanthus leaves are the perfect place for such excess. The Colors, I know, are not // can be not the must ideal // typical for a coatee since it is mostly all shiny, gold, orange but its in honor & after a great monarch that not only did her forces defeated the Spanish Armada & saved England from invasion but also created a nation that was stronger, bolder & Independent.
