It was also a colony that was founded by the religious Quakers whose leader was William Penn. This colony continued to act as a center of trade for the Dutch who the British allowed to stay within the colony. Also, the main purpose of the colony was to serve as a colony that was religiously tolerant.

The Pennsylvania Colony was located across the Atlantic Coast of North America. Since Pennsylvania was located near the coast, they had relied heavily on trade. Within their trade they had wood, fur, lumber, as well as slaves at times. The Natives that were originally there also were willing to trade furs and jewelry that they had for crops. Some of the natural resources found within the Pennsylvania colony included iron ore, forest, and farmland. With these natural resources, the colony was able to grow and develop economically.

William Penn was an important figure to the Pennsylvania. Penn was the founder of Pennsylvania, which was a big deal. He decided to make Pennsylvania very diverse as far as religion had went. He accepted voyagers and other colonists who were of different religion to stay in the state and practice freely. Even though he had given people of different religions freedom there, it didn't mean that they would all have equal opportunity. Only those of Christian faith could have a political position, or vote.
