Task: Students work in pairs or small groups to create a travel brochure for a country or city of their choice, including images and creative design elements. Students can create a paper-based brochure or post the content on Padlet. Here's a sample.

Task: Students prepare a cooking-show presentation where they demonstrate how to cook a specific or traditional dish. (This can be related to sharing local culture.) As an alternative to live, in-class presentation, this assignment can be video-recorded in advance (at home/on location) and uploaded to Padlet for an in-class ‘watch party.’ Here's a sample.

The student content is presented visually (with drawings/ photos/diagrams), and each group’s work is displayed/shared with other class members. Additionally, each group has representatives who stand with the poster during the gallery walk to offer further explanation and answer questions. Also, images of posters can be uploaded to Padlet for a virtual gallery walk.

Task: Students work in groups to develop a business idea and pitch it to the class, outlining the product or service, the target audience and marketing strategy. This can be either a quick 'commercial' (a short, 1-2 minute presentation) or a descriptive social-media advertisement for use in online marketing.

Objective: Improve speaking/conversation skills, storytelling, self-expression and creativity using a video or audio recording medium.

(This can be done live in class or students can prerecord the video and submit as an assignment.) Alternatively, students can create an audio-only recording of a discussion/conversation (“podcast”) about a particular topic; an outline and discussion/interview questions should be developed before the session is recorded.
