The Indonesian Manpower Ministry is preparing a regulation that will require online ride-hailing and delivery platforms to provide religious holiday allowances (THR) in cash to their drivers, following protests by hundreds of workers demanding fair treatment. Currently labeled as “partners,” these drivers are pushing to be recognized as employees eligible for benefits like THR, which the ministry acknowledges as a cultural and legal right. The ruling aims to close loopholes used by companies to avoid such obligations.

To combat the rising cybercrimes in Southeast Asia, ASEAN established a Cyber Emergency Response Team, headquartered in Singapore. Online scams and ransomware attacks are disrupting the economy and targeting vulnerable groups, where severe socio-economic impacts threaten public trust. The ASEAN CERT aims to provide information sharing, training, and exercises to strengthen regional coordination. They have also established U.N.'s Norms Implementation Checklist to guide member states promote responsible cyber behaviours.

I heard this today relating to a data breach in 2022 that the UK Government. An unprecedented superinjunction was made at the High Court in September 2023 but now lifted and the he Information Commissioner’s Office said the body had decided “no further regulatory action is required at this time in this case” on Tuesday
