Self- evaluation Feedback – It’s Oh so quiet

Performance of the song starts from 10:02 on the video

1. What did you like about how you used your voice?(think about vocal choices you made, how you emoted, etc)

I am quite happy with my voice. I used different qualities in vocal and I think vocally I divided the song parts quite well.

2. What did you like about your performance? I like energy and stage craft and movement along the stage. I enjoyed this particular performance.

3. What else did you like?

I am happy that I managed to deliver emotions which are attached to the song and the fact I overcome stress and fear to do it in front of the audience.

4. Did you feel that you were committed throughout the song?

I feel I was committed through out the song from the beginning to the end and I enjoyed it. I think I express the meaning of the lyrics in enjoyable way.

5. If you could do the performance again, what would want to do that you didn’t do?

I would sing with better timing closer to the original song. I will try to sing directly to a microphone to keep consistency and be hearable. I will avoid unnecessary movement to not compromise vocal quality.

6. What will you do about it in the future (ie practise/performance strategies)?

I will practice clip on/off a mic from a mic stand to do it unnoticeable and smoothly with one hand when necessary. I will plan a whole song movement to provide professional performance.

7. What do you want to make sure you take with you from this performance? ( ie lessons learned) I need more practice with stage craft and stage movement with microphone to sing directly to it.

Reflection on my recent performance. The song starts from 0:33 on the video

1. What did you like about how you used your voice?(think about vocal choices you made, how you emoted, etc)

I am quite happy with my voice. I used different qualities in vocal. I used mostly with smooth or aspirate technique to bring atmosphere of easy, summer tune.

2. What did you like about your performance? I like quite clear vocal and I didn’t show my stress and nerves as the song was the first during the performance.

3. What else did you like?

I liked movement behind the mic and I have kept some jazzy elements like vibrato, syncopation, improvisation which reminded the original genre of the song.

4. Did you feel that you were committed throughout the song?

I feel I was committed through out the song from the beginning to the end however I could be more committed during the instrumental part when I was doing improvisation.

5. If you could do the performance again, what would want to do that you didn’t do?

I would sing some words quitter to keep the characteristic of the song as a whole. I would use high chair to reduce unnecessary movement and sing in more relaxing posture.

6. What will you do about it in the future (ie practise/performance strategies)?

I will practice improvisation in different ways to make sure the best vocally fit.

7. What do you want to make sure you take with you from this performance? ( ie lessons learned) I need more practice with breath techniques and jump quickly between chest/head voice falsetto/smooth/glottal singing to be sure I can deliver it easy during improvisation part.

I used strong chest voice with vocal ornaments which were characteristic for Hungarian/gypsy style.

2. What did you like about your performance? I like clear vocal with all lyrics clearly sang and keeping vocally with accelerating tempo during the choruses.

3. What else did you like? I like movement behind the mic and energy I have put to deliver the song

4. Did you feel that you were committed throughout the song? I feel I was committed through out the song from the beginning to the end.

5. If you could do the performance again, what would want to do that you didn’t do? I would finish with some more movement. I would walk away from the mic with singing which would be good metaphor of gipsy life as travellers.

6. What will you do about it in the future (ie practise/performance strategies)? I will practice how to sing and move/dance and how to not compromise them to deliver quality performance.

7. What do you want to make sure you take with you from this performance? ( ie lessons learned) I need more practice with breath techniques and singing with chest voice and how to provide quality vocal through the song.

I think I could be more committed as quite often lost my engagement and focus on vocal only. I could be more committed during the instrumental part when I was doing improvisation and scat singing.

5. If you could do the performance again, what would want to do that you didn’t do?

I would sing with stage movement matching vocal and music dynamic of a song. ( ie lessons learned) I need to consider how my stage craft and mic techniques reflect a song and plan it better. I need more practice with stage craft and stage movement with microphone to sing directly to it. Long/ short breath practice to not be physically demanded by lack of technique.
