Singapore's economy is stable and attracts many foreigners to seek employment and take up residency here;which adds to Singapore's diversity

 some economic opportunities here may not be available in their home countries hence,they are attracted to Singapore

 employment opportunities are readily available due to the large number of businesses that operate here

 the demand for foreign domestic workers will rise from 198 000 in 2011 to about 300 000 by 2030

 foreign workers from Indonesia,Myanmar,Sri Lanka help support families with elderly people or children;they also allow Singaporeans who are the primary caregiver to re-enter or remain in the workforce

foreign manpower is also important to sustain our economy as they provide essential support in sectors such as construction,retail and food services.

 SINGAPORE POLICY: 

1.  government had assessed the immigration policies in the 1980s as Singapore was facing a declining population and brain drain.
2.  Hence,the Singapore Government started The immigration policy encouraging migration which has started from the 1990s till today.

•  COMING OF MIGRANTS:

1.  set up of Jurong Industrial Estate marked the start of Singapore's industrialisation programme in 1960s , demanding for more workers by issuing work permits to foreign workers seeking employment in Singapore. 
2.  the foreign manpower who came to Singapore temporarily are migrants and immigrants who choose to make Singapore their home have become our naturalised Singapore citizens or permanent residents.
3.  these migrants and immigrants bring a diversity of cultures, practices and customs from their countries of origin and majority of these immigrants and migrants also come with skills,valued experiences and networks to contribute ideas and experties to Singapore's economy.
