I think that through this collection, Alexander McQueen was artistically displaying his feelings of being trapped and constrained by his own mind due to his mental health issues. I think it’s more of a way to show the public how he has felt throughout his life, while being a source of inspiration for him.

His mental states are reflected in this work because it shows how he may feel caged in while the public can still look in on his life and give high praise. Even tho he might be at his lowest.

it can represent issues with mental hospitals/psych wards, how its seen as a cage and scary place rather than a place of healing and recovery. this can be seen through the expressions of the models
