Your assignment is to write a paragraph about a specific topic using at least three out of the five senses, and a metaphor or a simile. You need to label each part.

Example:

Sky is like a yellow flower blooming under the bright sun= similie and sight

She is music to my ears when she gets an A on an assignment= metaphor and sound

and her starbucks coffee fills the room with the aroma of Christmas= smell

Sky is like a yellow flower blooming under the bright sun. She is music to my ears when she gets an A on an assignment, and her starbucks coffee fills the room with the aroma of Christmas.

*you can write about nature, fruits, a person, your favorite food, Christmas morning, your favorite place, etc!

As I wandered the streets of NYC, the smell of exhaust filled the air and the piercing sounds of car horns and engines. People with bikes, riding past me as fast as a bullet. I looked around me and all I saw were foreign things, nothing like back in Australia. As I walked and walked, down these streets of gold, the chilling cold breeze blew past me and I could taste the bread and pastries being made, my mouth watered. I ran, not paying attention to what was around me, zooming past everyone in my path. I reached the bakers and without a single thought, I ran in. The smell was as strong as ever, it filled my body with joy. I grabbed my jelly filled donuts and continued on my day, eating and exploring one block at a time.

You can taste the salt in the air as you are approaching the beach. You can hear the waves crashing the ground at a steady beat. You can feel the sand in between your toes and the shells as they touch your hand. You can smell the salt in the air and all the food on the boardwalk. You can see everyone around you having fun in the sun and watching dolphins and fish jump up in the water.

We arrived at a farm. I could taste the fresh corn that was growing in the distance. I got out of the car and saw the new baby pigs that arrived yesterday. They were pink in color with black spots. Mom told me to pick the pig up and so i did. The skin felt smooth as a baby's butt and the hair felt like sand paper. While i was holding the pig i could smell the cow manure that had not been cleaned up since 3 days ago. As we pulled out of the farm that evening you could hear all the tractors coming back from the fields and ready for bed.

Cedar Creek, the name of the battlefield in Virginia, looks as if it was never touched by any Solider. As i touch the statues of the men who fought here, it's as if i could feel their heartbeat, pounding through their chest like bullets lodging out of a Spring Field. I keep on walking around, as i see the sky, as blue as the Yankee Wool coats they wore once before. I sit, along the side of the creek, where blood was once shed, and as i look at the cold, flowing water, i take a sip of fresh water out of my canteen. The water tastes refreshing. As i sit, I think of the sounds that could have been lead onto this Battlefield, and sounds of cannons being shot, Muskets, Rifles, Spring Fields, and men screaming as they fall to their death, or as they fall and craw or sit around in pain. The smell of the air i breath into, smells fresh and relaxed, as i look around peacefully at the statues too! I think back all the time, almost everyday, to when life was hard, and the military was hitting each other's heads together as the fought side by side with each other too.
