Encourage students to incorporate this word in their writing throughout the week and award points or praise for creative uses.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Connectives Strategy</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Connective Practice Sentences</strong>: Set aside time weekly for students to practice combining sentences using a variety of connectives. Provide example sentences and challenge students to add appropriate connectives, then share and discuss how each choice changes the flow of their writing.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Openers Strategy</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Opener Starters</strong>: Create a visual chart with different types of openers (e.g., time, action, adverb, question) and provide students with examples. For writing tasks, challenge students to start each paragraph with a different type of opener to make their writing more engaging.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Punctuation Strategy</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Punctuation Puzzles</strong>: Provide students with sentences that lack punctuation, and ask them to punctuate correctly. Focus on specific punctuation types (like commas or quotation marks for dialogue) each week. Discuss how punctuation impacts meaning and clarity in writing.</p></li></ul>]]></description>
