What do you hope to learn?

I hope to learn strategies for supporting students with disabilities, ways to collaborate with families and other educators, and how to adapt lessons so that every child feels included and capable of learning.

Do you have preconceived notions about Special Needs Learners? If so, what are they?

I believe students with special needs are just as capable of learning as their peers, but they may need different supports or approaches to help them succeed. My preconceived notion is that special education is not about limiting students but about finding ways to unlock their potential.

What are your expectations for yourself as a student? As a future teacher?

As a student, I expect myself to be organized and open-minded to new ideas. As a future teacher, I expect myself to be patient, adaptable, and compassionate so that I can meet the diverse needs of my students.

Yes, I think the kind of student I am now will reflect the teacher I will become. If I am determined to learn everything I can that will relate to my future, it will help me be better prepared for my career as a teacher.

Challenges such as balancing the needs of a diverse classroom, learning how to advocate for students, and managing stress as a new teacher. This class can help me by giving me the knowledge, tools, and perspective to better support students with special needs and to see challenges as opportunities for growth.

To be successful, I plan to stay engaged in class discussions, complete assignments on time, ask questions if I'm unsure about the assignment, and connect what I’m learning to real classroom situations.
