Delivered in partnership with the Energy Savings Trust and EY, this Programme will support young people in S5 and S6 who are interested in a career in the business/sustainability industry. The paid programme is 8 days in total (split over 2 different weeks), including Employability Skills Training and Work Experience. This is all then complemented by 6-12 months of Mentoring.

Applicants must be eligible (within the last 2 years) for either Free School Meals or Education Maintenance Allowance and be aged 16/17 for the duration of the dates.

Dates: Monday 7th to Thursday 10th April 2025 and Monday 16th to Thursday 19th June 2025

Timing: 9:30 - 4:30 each day

Location: EY Office, Morrison Street, Edinburgh

Pay & Benefits:

• £300 approx for attending all 8 days

• Gift Card provided for lunch costs

• Travel costs paid where Young Scot Card does not cover

•            Threat, vulnerability and risk assessment

•            Operating system security

Cyber Security Technologist Apprentice (128392)

Salary range

£25,000 - £26,250

As a Level 4 (SCQF Level 7 equivalent) Cyber Security Technologist apprentice, you’ll cover intermediate fundamentals of network security, cyber security and risk management. You will develop the skills required to implement a series of technical, procedural and physical controls to monitor, detect and respond to a wide range of cyber security threats.  During your apprenticeship which usually spans up to 2 years, you will cover key areas such as:

•            Networking and cyber security fundamentals

•            Threat, vulnerability and risk assessment

•            Operating system security

•            Cryptography

•            Information security and management frameworks

BAE SYSTEMS, Hillend, Fife - Higher Apprentice Manufacturing Engineering

This program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience while pursuing qualifications in Manufacturing Engineering. You will work alongside experienced professionals within the sub-discipline areas of Manufacturing Engineering, while contributing to real projects and learning about advanced manufacturing processes.

As an engineering apprentice you will spend your first year at college full time carrying out an SVQ level 2 and an NC. This is to teach you both practical and theory-based engineering. 

Qualification requirements

5 National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above which must include English, Maths (excluding Application of Maths) & Science/Technical subject 
AND one of the following:
4 Highers (or equivalent) at Grade C or above. One subject must be Maths and one subject must be in Engineering or a Science/Technical subject
OR an equivalent level 3 vocational qualification (for example L3 SVQ, L6 SCQF) this must be in a STEM related subject areas that aligns to the scheme/area you are applying for and worth a minimum of 96 tariff points)

Once you have completed your first year you will attend college one day a week to complete a HNC while also carrying out placements in all the major engineering functions on site. This will last for two years where you will have the opportunity to gain experience in all steps of the manufacturing process. During this time, you will also work towards an SVQ level 3.

The final year will see you complete your SVQ level 3 and start your final placement in one of the engineering departments.

By the end of the apprenticeship, you will obtain:

•    A HNC in Manufacturing Engineering.

•    An SVQ Level 3 in Technical Support.
