This book is set in the near future in Moscow Russia. It takes place after a nuclear war between Russia and the United States resulting in the collapse of the two societies. More importantly it focuses on the survivors of the nuclear war who fled into the huge metro systems of russia to escape the blast. This focus shifts to the main character Artyom who was born and brought up in the metro. His station comes under attack and he is forced to travel across the entire metro system to seek help from the more powerful stations. This was also a video game but for those of you who like post apocalyptic books or a real survivor type story this is really good.

Series about a young man and his adventure/coming of age story throughout a fantasy world (added bonus, theirs a detailed map). Eragon, the MC, grew up in a small isolated town. One day he spots something shooting across the sky and landing in the nearby forest. He goes to explore and discovers a egg, a dragon egg. The egg eventually hatches and the baby dragon imprints onto Eragon and wham bam he is off on an adventure, hunted by the evil peoples and helping the good here and there. A really great read that lasts quite a long time considering the books in the series are all quite thick. If y'all are into fantasy it is most definitely  a worthy read.

The main plot of this novel is about a man, Jack Torrance, along with his son, Danny, and wife, Wendy. Jack Torrance gets a job as a winter caretaker for the Overlook Hotel. This requires him and his family to live their during the duration of his job. Along with Jack and his family being cut off from the rest of the world, Jack also battles alcoholism and anger issues all while writing a play.
