siti nasirah
Rehana
Norlina Raihanah
Aini nadia

No, there is no such thing as ‘correct English’. Language is always evolving one of the relevant examples would be the expansion of certain vocabularies. For instance ‘woke’ is the past tense of ‘wake’ but now it is commonly perceived as being socially aware. Another famous example is the noun ‘Google’ is now used as a verb. To add, dialect feature is a form of social identity that exists in several communities hence there is no one or correct English.

Next, based on the reading, there is no such correct English because of dialects that exist among all human kinds. Even though we have a correct English spelling which refers to Received Pronunciation (RP) but we all have different pronunciations on some words. Standard English is just a standardized and regularized and formal granted acceptance for use in publics such as schools and education.

Besides, the same thing goes to grammar. The grammar will keep evolving as the time goes by. All of us should be taught things that are reliable rather than mythical since we were kids. Plus, English language is a lingua franca which is a widely spoken language in this world. Hence, such things as ‘proper English’, ‘standard English’ or even ‘correct grammar’ are absolutely hogwash and undeniably, this belief should be debunked as there is a bunch of people out there who tend to take and judge solemnly on how the non-native English speakers speak.

It is a very common misunderstanding among language learners that grammar is the center of the language while lexis or vocabulary is more important especially when learning a second language. Therefore, there is the assumption that the English learners and speakers must prioritize in perfecting their grammatical structure which often resulted in the learners facing some difficulties during the learning process. As a conclusion, English will continue to morph, mutated or transformed as the time changes so there is no definite answer to the question whether the English language that we use now is the most accurate or correct. One can be prescriptivism or descriptivism when it comes to using a language.
