         <description><![CDATA[<div><mark>Wednesday <br>January 27 (1hr)</mark>&nbsp;<br>My partner and I met with our mentor Alma Nunez on Wednesday through ZOOM. Our first meeting focused on introduction of the classroom. She let us know that the age range of the children in her classroom 0-3. She has 4 two- year olds. Mentioned that in her class she is bilingual. We changed our meeting time to Fridays at 11:00 am. I asked her what we should keep I mind when creating a lesson plan, she let us know that the school is a head start, we should remember if needed materials are to be used they must be household items. To finalized we signed up for a newsletter that parents recieve.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><mark>Monday Feb 1st<br>(30min)</mark><br>This week we began to receive the newsletters parents receive. As I read through it I noted that even when they are virtual it is just as important to keep the parents informed about what their children are doing in the week. In the previous meeting she noted that she is bik=lingual and this is important when communicating with parents as well as children.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><mark>Friday<br>Feb 12 (1hr &amp; 30 min)</mark><br>This week when meeting with the children, there were many distractors in the children's environment. I noted how the mentor worked with the children even when they were distracted. After the class we met with the mentor a she shared tips on how to redirect children and get their attention back. She also mentioned recognizing when the children are done for the day. She mentioned to start sending her the anecdotal records we were collecting.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><mark>Wed &amp; Fri <br>Feb 17 &amp; 19</mark> <br>(1hr each meeting <br>Total 2 hrs) <br>On Wednesday we met with one children that was needing one on one time with the teacher to work on Speech. After meeting with the children we discussed how the class went and what could be done differently.<br><strong><mark>Friday </mark></strong><br>Today was the longest time we the teacher was able to retain the children's attention. Normally the class would last 10-15 minutes however this session lasted almost 30 minutes. She provided simple activities that the children were engaged in.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><mark>Friday <br>Feb. 26, 2021 (1hr)</mark><br>We did not meet with the children this week. Instead we attended a parent meeting at the same time. I was interested in listening to this meeting because it provided an opportunity to see how they built this teacher/ parent relationship. The meeting was in both English and Spanish. They began by discussing parent leadership positions. Discussed other areas such as workshops, further meetings, parent involvement, among other things.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><mark>Wednesday &amp; Friday <br>March 3 &amp; 5 (2 hr)</mark><br>Wednesday<br>We meet with O and the mentor for a one- on- one class. Alma focused on "O" speech what she was able to communicate.&nbsp;She became easily distracted with her environment and was visible over today's class. Alma tried to get her attention back but the child was eating. We met for thirty minutes after to discuss the class.  <br><mark>Friday</mark><br>We met with the children and teacher. The children were excited to participate in paper all activity we have been doing in past classes. We also met for thirty minutes after to discuss nexts weeks implementation of our lesson plan. The mentor teacher answers all of our questions, and she also offered suggestions after we discussed our lesson plan. For example on our animal flashcards she asked that we also add the noun in Spanish (Dog/ Perro).&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

This class was focused on providing additional reinforcement on language. In the beginning the child did not wan to participate but Teacher Alma brought out a Pete the Cat book. And the child became interested. After the class session we met with our mentor teacher and briefly discussed her approach to the lesson. As well s what we were planning on for the next lesson plan.</div>]]></description>

We decided to focus children returning from virtual learning to in-person learning. Because the classroom we did our practicum in is returning we wan tour mentor teacher to have this resource guide to help transition the children back to class. Considering that the children have online had "school experience" in virtual form.</div>]]></description>
