Chinese clothing is way more different than ours they usually bright colors for both women and men. The Chinese Suit (Tang Zhuang): It is a combination of the Manchu male jacket of the Qing Dynasty and the western style suit. It is usually straight collared, with coiled buttons down the front. Its color and design are in traditional Chinese style but tailoring is western. Cheongsam (Qi Pao): Originated from the Manchu female clothes, it evolved by merging with western patterns that show off the beauty of a female body. Its features are straight collar, strain on the waist, coiled buttons and slits on both sides of the dress. Materials used are usually silk, cotton and linen. Cheongsam is the most popular Chinese attire in the world today.

Mandarin and Cantonese, although they are often referred to as individual languages, are each technically classified as a dialect of the Modern Standard Chinese language, commonly known as Guoyo or Putonghua.

According to a latest survey, 85% of Chinese people have religious beliefs or had some religious practices and only 15% of them are real atheists. (The real atheists here refer to those who do not have faith in any religions nor had any activities related to religions or folk customs.) 185 million people believe in Buddhism and 33 million have faith in Christianity and believes in the existence of God. Only 12 million people are Taoists, although more than one hundred million have taken part in Taoism activities before. Thus, it is obvious that the Buddhism has the widest influence. The other major religions are Taoism, Confucianism, Islam and Christianity.

Chinese Houses

Here are three different types of Chinese residential homes. Siheyuan (四合院) is what most foreigners imagine when they think of a typical Chinese abode: a traditional Han house of the Zhou Dynasty. It’s composed of an enclosed square yard surrounded with the house on four or three sides. Earth houses (土楼) are traditional houses of the Hakka (客家族 ) ethnic group in Fujian, Guangdong, and Guangxi Provinces. These houses, called Tulou, are typically designed for defensive purposes and consist of one entrance and no windows at ground level. These houses are usually round with kitchen and utility rooms on the ground floor, and people living on the higher floors. iang Nan (江南) houses are often called 四水归堂 (Sì shuǐ guī táng), because of their abundance of water resources: lakes, rivers, channels, etc. The houses are a smaller version of Siheyuan, but unlike the northern houses which have brighter colors (red, green) and colorful paintings, Jiang Nan houses have a unique sense of simplicity: white walls and black tiles, which represent the humility of Jiang Nan people.
