She said that it's positive for teens to know how to use technology, Internet and social networks because these can help them to communicate, but parents have the responsibility to teach them the correct use of technology so their kids use them at their favour and not against. She indicated that the advancement of technology has positively impacted the abroad experience because of the convenience it offers users in communicating and finding information while on the go. Further more, through access to new media, friends and families are able to live vicariously through young sojourners and vice versa, there is a instant communication that allows the distance to "dissapear".However, it could affect negatively because people often seem more interested in documenting an experience for the Internet instead of fully appreciating the moment while abroad.

He is one of the most important critics of the internet and social networks. Bauman has pointed out that the success of this networks is due to the fear of being alone or rejected of the users. Also, this social networks make people develop a double life, the one that is online and the offline, each one with their own characteristics. In the online life, the ability of listening and negociating with other human beings is solved, since it is not really neccessary to do that, you just have to "press buttons".
