The Scots were not very welcome here though. After the Uprising of 1798 (which was started due to religious persecution and economic problems) where Catholics and Protestants tried to overthrow the British, they moved as the British cracked down after the failed rebellion. They sailed to the new world and settled at Philadelphia and along the Delaware River. They were not welcomed by the English, Dutch, and German settlers for ether though, and moved westward in the the Appalachian Mountains. I think that some Scots moved back to Scotland after not being welcome in Ireland. I doubt many moved back from America because of the huge geographical distance and relative peace. A huge number of Scots Irish settles in Pennsylvania along their southern towns like Gettysburg, York, and Lancaster.
