Learning to learn should therefore be a stronger focus at our school. Therefore it is also important that all students have enough contact persons among the teachers from their culture. We do celebrate Chinese ones however. I think this is well-intentioned as we don't want to elevate one over another, some cultures may feel left out etc. However, this approach can also be suggesting that we don't think different cultures and nationalities are an asset. Rather than completely avoiding them, perhaps we could find ways to include special days. This could be very empowering for students.
