Choose a listening, reading or writing website to practise from the list below or do your homework

Other self-study options such as Cambridge or IELTS exam practice, reading a graded reader book from the academic office or doing a chapter from an EF Grammar Book are OK too

It is your choice to choose something that is a) studying English and b) a good use of your time

The teacher is present to answer any questions you have and give you advice. Please ask if you need help

Examples:

• Lying to help a friend

• Stealing food because you are hungry

• Cheating on a test

• Keeping money you find

You are a writer for an advice column in a newspaper/magazine. You must respond to these 4 questions:

1. “My friend cheated on a test. What should I do?”

2. “My friend asked me to keep a bad secret. What should I do?”

3. “I found a wallet with money. What should I do?”

4. “Is it OK to steal food if you are very hungry?”

Think about:

• Virtue ethics

• Utilitarianism

• Deontology

Write a 5-minute podcast script:

• explain one dilemma

• discuss virtue / utilitarian / deontology philosophies

• say which philosophical approach you agree with

Record it if you want!

Choose ONE ethical dilemma from the lecture:

• lying to help someone

• cheating in a test

• stealing food

• finding a wallet

• the trolley problem
