<title>Name: Leidy Johana Buitrago Vera Course: Qualitative and Quantitative Research Tutor: Helga Valeska Leon Date: October 13th, 2018 Theoretical Perspective The theory that I will use is Cognitive Development of children. It was developed by Jean Piaget, and it was used to study the four different stages of mental development of children. This theory indicates that cognitive development is a progressive reorganization of mental processes resulting from biological maturation and environmental experience; Piaget believed that children take an active role in the learning process, acting much like little scientists as they perform experiments, make observations, and learn about the world. As kids interact with the world around them, they continually add new knowledge, build upon existing knowledge, and adapt previously held ideas to accommodate new information. His theory focuses not only on understanding how children acquire knowledge, but also on understanding the nature of intelligence. He propose four stages are: Sensorimotor stage: birth to 2 years, Preoperational stage: ages 2 to 7, Concrete operational stage: ages 7 to 11 and Formal operational stage: ages 12 and up. As applied to my topic, this theory holds that I would expect my independent variables: Age, Gender and context (Family and educational) to influence or explain the dependent variables of the children&#39;s 4 stages of cognitive development in English as a Second language learning process from little ones because the good teaching of children at an early age will be an advantage for teaching the second language in our country, taking into account the stages they go through in their growth, forming spontaneous and fearless students to learn a different language to your native language. This theory will help teachers to educate according to the needs of their students, since all children are different and require personalized attention in their educational process, assuring the success of Second Language learning process.</title>

<title>Name: Astrid Garnica Sarmiento Course: Qualitative and Quantitative Research Tutor: Helga Valeska Leon Date: October 10, 2018 Theoretical Perspective The theory that I will use is Andragogy also known as adult learning theory. It was developed by Malcom Shepherd Knowles, and it was used to study the unique learning styles and strengths of adult learners. This theory indicates that adults are self-directed and expect to take responsibility for decisions. First all of, theory of andragogy makes five assumptions of adult learners: Self-Concept, adult learner experience, readiness to learn, orientation to learning and Motivation to learn. Then and based on these assumptions, Knowles (1984) discussed four principles that are applied to adult learning: 1 Adults need to be involved in the planning and evaluation of their instruction. 2 Experience (including mistakes) provides the basis for learning activities. 3 Adults are most interested in learning subjects that have immediate relevance to their job or personal life. 4 Adult learning is problem-centered rather than content-oriented. (Kearsley, 2010). As applied to my study, this theory holds that I would expect my independent variables: Gender, Age, Profession, Salary Expectations and Level of Education to influence or explain the dependent variables Academic Performance and Level of Motivation of adult learners because these variables will determine how the experience and topics that are related to the learner’s profession automatically influence the interest of each one to learn. At the same time, the principles of adult learning theory will be useful to support the teaching styles that a teacher as a facilitator applies in their classes in order to guide to the students to fulfill their goals.</title>

<title>Name: Franklin Ferney Rangel Grass. Course: Qualitative and Quantitative Research Tutor: Helga Valeska León Date: October 2.018 Theoretical Perspective The theory I will use is that of collaborative learning, which first emerged from the work of Lev Vygotsky, a twentieth-century Russian psychologist who proposed the theory of the zone of proximal development. This theory proposed the idea that, while there are things that we are not able to learn individually, we can achieve them if we have external help.Lev Vigotsky raised one of the bases of collaborative learning: the importance of communication and interaction with others when it comes to learning more effectively. For the study that I want to carry out, about the way in which the collaborative activities in the classroom promote a more pleasant, welcoming and meaningful learning for the students where I will be able to obtain and analyze variables such as age, gender, perspective of the collaborative work, influence on the learning and about the emotions that students experience most when working with others. The analysis of the theory of collaborative learning will allow to know how the main characteristics studied by Lev Vygotsky, such as the existence of a common task, predisposition, interdependence and individual responsibility, mainly influence the obtaining of new learning in students. </title>

<title>Name: Angela Torres G. Course: Qualitative and Quantitative Research Tutor: Julio Cesar Tulande Rengifo Date: October 18th, 2018 Theoretical Perspective The theory that I will use is Constructivism. It was developed by Jerome Seymour Bruner (1915 – 2016), Jean Piaget (1896 – 1980), and it was used to study about how people learn. This theory indicates that it is useful for learning with creating meaning from experience, about that has been possible engage and motivating the students, by making them take more active role in the learning process. We have known that Learning is more meaningful to students when they are able to interactive with an idea or a dilemma and precisely they use interactive teaching strategies to create meaningful situations that help build knowledge based on their own experiences. Bruner&#39;s theory of constructivism asserts that students should be active in the learning process, as the Constructivism is based on the idea that students construct their learning on past knowledge, and that logical plays an important acting in the learning process. Piaget&#39;s theory of constructivism impinges on learning curriculum because teachers have to make a curriculum plan which heightens their students&#39; logical- conceptual growth. As applied to my topic, this theory holds that I would expect my independent variable (s) as political affiliation, religious belief, age, gender, race and culture, to influence or explain the dependent variable (s) &quot;how people learn&quot;, for this it must take into account the capacity of teachers that must know the multiple use of tools and that schools must be in places accessible, the combination of everything necessary for acquisition of meaningful knowledge can be possible, because indeed, constructivism builds on triggers the student&#39;s innate curiosity how about takes advantage of things world and how they work. Such based on experience learning let to the learners to better process their newfound information, so then teacher must put highlight on the significant role that their experiences for having new knowledge, in this way people construct their own understanding and knowledge of the world through experiencing.</title>

<title>Name: Luz Dary Pérez Bonet Course: Qualitative and Quantitative Research Tutor: Helga Valeska Leon Date: September 30, 2018 Theoretical Perspective The theory that I will use is Connectivism: A theory of learning for the digital era. It was developed by George Siemens and Stephen Downes, and it was used to study the effect technology has had on the way we currently live, communicate and learn. This theory indicates that connectivism is the combination of constructivism and cognitivism for the new digital learning of this digital and globalizing era. Called the &quot;theory of learning for the digital age&quot;, it is about explaining complex learning, not as an individual activity in a rapidly evolving digital social world but as the interaction between several. This theory is driven by the understanding that decisions are based on the accelerated transformation of the bases. New information is continually acquired that leaves the previous one obsolete. The ability to discern between important and trivial information is vital, as well as the ability to recognize when this new information alters decisions made based on past information. As applied to my topic, this theory holds that I would expect my independent variables: Age, Gender, socioeconomic status and level of Education to influence or explain the dependent variable: Level of Knowledge of Information and Communication Technologies because the development and understanding of this theory is intrinsically linked to the arrival and implementation of ICT, as it is a theory of learning typical of the digital era and addresses both the new knowledge that society generates and the new learning structures in relationship with the characteristics of its environment. The connection between people and knowledge in the management of technology is the basis of this theory as it influences all theoretical points of view by providing unique techniques and methods of instruction whose purpose is to help students learn more successfully.</title>
