         <description><![CDATA[<div>The invasion of Abyssinia was a “war” which Italy invaded Ethiopia trying to boost its national prestige. It is seen as an example of the expansionist policy and showed the ineffectiveness of the League of Nations before world war 2.&nbsp; Ethiopia demanded that Italy be punished by the League of Nations but nothing happed due to lack of support.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Event: 1935 Germany Militarizes the Rhineland</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><br><br>In 1936, hitler violated the treaty of Versailles and sent his military troops to Rhineland. Rhineland was like a safe zone for France, Belgium, and Netherlands because it was deemed as a demilitarized zone to protect them from Germany’s future aggression. Later France and the USSAR signed a treaty of friendship which hitler used as leverage to send his military to Rhineland. The lack of reaction from Great Britain and France hitler was able to take over other lands.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Japan invaded China in 1937, this attack was later known as the Rape of Nanjing. In effort to gain raw materials to fuel its growing industries, Japan initiated a brutal attack resulting in the rapes and murders of the Chinese people. After 6 weeks, the fighting ended with an estimated death toll of 100,000 to 300,000.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Germany and Austria are incorporated into each other’s governments on March 12, 1938. Austrian Nazis schemed to seize Austria so they can be whole with Nazi Germany. Throughout WWII, it is evident that Austrians were enthusiastic supporters of union with Germany. There was a ban on annexing Austria but German troops still followed through with their plan.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; On 1938 a Munich pact was signed which handed Germany the reign over Czechoslovakia although the pact was a PEACE pact between them and Germany it also handed Sudentenland over to Hitler. The separation of Czechoslovakia became Hitlers next ambition. On march 15, 1939 German troops marched into Czechoslovakia and took over. Hitler broke the pact which led to chaos.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hitler wanted to reunite the German speaking people in western Czechoslovakia with Germany. Britain and France, not wanting to go to war, made an agreement where hitler would invade Czechoslovakia. The Czechoslovakia government was informed about hitler and were given two options, let hitler invade, or fight germany. The settlement gave Germany control of Czechoslovakia as long as hitler did not go any further.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The American Wall Street Crash of October 1929 was a huge lead up to the Great Depression. The Wall Street crash made America unable to pay back their huge loans that were made to help the troubled economy. &nbsp;Since Germany lost its loans from America, France and Britain were also unable to make their payments. This caused trade and production all around the world to slow down. </div>]]></description>

These leaders gain enough power to increase military and nationalism, and later manage to have complete control of their nation, and sometimes others.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In August 1939, two enemies, Hitler and Joseph Stalin the Soviet Russian dictator, signed the Nazi-Soviet Pact. This was a nonaggression pact stating that the two nations would stay at peace with each other. This duo shocked the world being how different Hitler’s and Stalin’s ideas were. The two of them did not like one another, but they relied each other for political needs. And secretly addressed in this pact was the plan for the two of them to invade Poland and split it between themselves.</div>]]></description>

This swift and "lightening" attack, a German "blitzkrieg," war was accompanied by a Soviet invasion in the east. Polish resistance was strong but were overwhelmed.
