Write an outline for your text:

Plan the beginning, the middle and the ending of your story, for example in a mind map (an example can be found in the picture). Use the title and the words in the grid.

beginning: Who are the characters?

middle: What problem do they have?

ending: How is the problem solved?

Think about vocabulary you need and structure it (check out p. 75 for help)

Write a first draft of your story using a Word document (type, don't handwrite)!

Improving your draft part 1: Add and mark time phrases, linking words, complex sentences in another color.

Improving your draft part 2: Add and mark adjectives and adverbs (quite, a bit, really, etc.) in another color.

Copy your improved version into Deepl.com and have the program translate your story into German. Check if all your ideas make sense.

If there is a problem, use the help this program can give you: write the sentence in German and have the program translate it into English by clicking on the arrows (Pfeile). Also find out how the program would phrase certain sentences by translating the German version into English again. Then compare “your” version” with the program suggested. What is different? What is the same?

Write down or mark what you changed in your story after working with DeepL.
