Mami was quiet  because she didn't really respond with sentences and she either nodded or shook her head or just said small answers.Towards the end of the novel, Mami could be described as courageous. Mami was courageous because she told her big secret to Ana Rosa. In the text it states, "I listened as Mami spoke, very slowly this time and very clearly, telling papi about the man on the mule. About how this man was my father and how he had given me money and ridden off.". Mami experienced this change because she needed to tell Ana Rosa what happened because it was really important and would've affected Ana Rosa even more if she wouldn't have told her.

Papi was  depressed  because  he has to tell Anna Rosa that she is not his real kid.

• In the text it states " I was the only one on this island who couldn't dance." , And papi he was a different person completely. He was no longer the loud voice in a porch chair. • Papi experienced thing changed because at first he didn't really spent any time with Ana Rosa but at the end of the novel he changed her taught her daughter (Ana Rosa) how to dance, he kinda started to spend more time with his family and Ana Rosa.
