My Favorite App

I have quite a few apps that I love using as a teacher. My favorite app for communicating with parents is Class Dojo. I love being able to add photos of students to share on our class wall or send to parents. I love being able to make last minute reminders for parents or even to let parents know what we are doing in the classroom for the week. It's also nice for parents if they need messages translated- it's available on the app! However, my favorite app to use as a teacher is Pinterest. Why? Well, as a teacher who is getting ready to start year 3 of teaching (year 2 in Special Education), I love looking on there for ideas. I currently teach in a unit with 10 students. I am always looking for new or different ideas of things that I can create or use in my classroom whether it is a fidget, task box, center layouts, etc. I love seeing new ideas from other people that I can tweak to fit the needs of my students. It is also cool to be able to share your own ideas on there with other people who have not seen the idea before!

I love Kahoot for interactive learning, my very competitive students used to love racing to answer these. Great way of testing knowledge and finding any weaknesses!

I like to use Class Dojo to share information with parents. Most of the parents in my class don't look in their child's folder for information, but I know they are looking at Class Dojo. I can tell when they've read the message and they can communicate back to me immediately. I can safely send them pictures, which they love!

Prodigy is an amazing app that allows students to work on math, on their level, in a game form. The kids love earning "prizes" and think of it as a video game.

I like Class Dojo! My kindergartners love seeing their little monsters. I use it daily for parent communication and behavior. You can give instant positive or negative behavior feedback. We set class goals and individual goals using the data from the app. We have a class dojo shop where the kids can “buy” things with their points. I like that it motivates them to do positive things to earn points. It seems to motivate my kindergarteners more than the fourth graders I have had in the past. It’s easy to use and the buttons are customizable, so they can be changed for any behavior skill.
