1. A writing element you’d like to pursue, that you think is important for the success of the writing piece

2. A goal for that element in relation to the larger work (in other words, the “job” of that element in service of the whole piece of writing)

3. An “in order to” statement that connects the element and the goal, showing how the element will lead to the goal.

   Writing Goal: The counterargument in my argumentative essay should be relevant in order to address my audience’s anticipated concerns.
