Amira is an Artificial Intelligence or AI program that gathers student data and tutors based on need. It is a great program that follows the Science of Teaching Reading Research which focuses on reading pedagogy, foundational skills, reading comprehension and then uses data gathered to analyze and create interventions. Amira uses AI, so it gets students reading levels and then assigns them reading passages with built-in tutoring. These sessions use Amira to act as a live tutor and give students the opportunity to improve their reading fluency and comprehension.

Amplify or Boost is another great program for reading. This program uses the Science of Teaching Reading which focuses on intertwined decoding and comprehension. What students like about this program is it feels more like a game than a learning experience. Students are given a story to follow and need to answer questions based on their learning level. What I like as a teacher is it tracks students' progress through a series of testing like oral fluency. I use these tests throughout the year.

Achieve 3000 is an accelerated program geared towards growing students' comprehension. It does this by having students take a pretest to gather data and create differentiated reading lessons for each individual student. There is also a point system that gets students to compete with students in their class and others in the state of Texas. My team members received the most points and time spent on Achieve 3000 in our district and got state recognition as well.

Amira is quick to get started, all you need is to create a student account and have students take the pre assessments for Amira to begin gathering data. Once the initial assessments are completed, students will then get individualized instruction based on their needs. This program is like having a tutor with each student that works one on one. Because it is an online program, students can use this at home to get more practice. Data shows that if students spend at least ten minutes a day on Amira, their overall reading comprehension and decoding skills improve 2x the national average. A full year of working at Amira can catch students up with a full year.

Learning inventories can be extremely helpful and useful in the classroom. Once inventories are taken you can plan accordingly. Depending on the learning styles you have in your classroom you can plan how you will deliver your lessons or activities you will use. For example, for visual learners you could utilize graphic organizers and teach students to use a color-coding system while taking notes. For kinesthetic learners, teachers could incorporate movement like using rotations.

In a classroom, educators should evaluate students' strengths, interests, and needs for growth to influence instruction to create a routine and flow in their classroom. Behaviors are influenced by many things in an academic setting by creating set routines and understanding how students' function can minimize these behaviors (Murawski & Scott, 2019). Utilizing students' learning styles and strengths can help in these situations. For example, while walking around the building, you could give your auditory learners directions to lead the class.

Choice can be a vital aspect when creating, planning, and implementing assessments (Usher, 2019). Educators do not typically think of it because standardized testing does not use such wide accommodations. But this can be effective because students are receiving an assessment that caters to their specific learning style. This has been observed in my classroom when differentiating with assessments. I incorporated technology and movement for my visual and auditory learners.

Learning styles affect how students learn in the classroom and in the real world. Every aspect of how they interpret situations is based on their learning style (AI- Rommy, 2023). It is important to first understand the differences in each style and how they can become strengths for students. Assessing students and educating them in their style can help give students ownership in their own learning journey. This could help shed light on how students react to situations in and out of an academic setting.
