Literary Text: Tara-Chandan was helping his mother in doing some chores around the house when Patel entered and saw him (knitting scene). Patel was agitated and at once instructed Chandan not to do it, insisting Tara do the job instead. Insisted he come to the office and work and Chandan was not willing to work and told his dad to take Tara- telling him that she would be a great businesswoman. Patel's reaction shows gender roles, where women were supposed to be responsible for household chores, even though Chandan was assisting his mother.

It is a moment that brings out the problem of gender discrimination in domestic chores, whereby chores get divided based on gender stereotypes.
