It had soft green grass and twelve peach-trees. School children used to visit it to play there in the evening when they came from school. Once, the giant went out to see his friend, Carnish ogre. He stayed at his house for seven years. After this , he returned to his own castle. To his surprise, he found the children playing in the garden.

“My garden is my own garden”, he said to himself.So,he built a high wall around it.Then he put up a notice board declaring that “TRESSPASSERS WILL BE PROSECUTED”.It was clear that he had become selfish.

Now the Children felt very sad. They had no place to play. So, they played outside the garden around the wall.Time went on. In the spring, flowers grew all over, but in the Giant’s garden,there was no spring.There was no summer also.It was always winter there. Neither birds nor flowers could be seen there. Only snow and frost covered the trees. The Giant wondered as to why there was no spring in his garden.

Once the Giant lay in his bed awake. He heard a sweet music.A little linnet (A bird) sang outside his window The music appealed to him. The sweet smell of flowers passed through his nostrils.He saw the most wonderful sight. Children had crept in through a hole.Children sat on branches.The trees were covered with flowers.In the farthest corner of the garden a little boy was sitting.He was too small to climb on the branch. He cried bitterly. The giant went up to him and kissed him. He picked him up and placed him on a branch.

Now the Giant knocked down the garden wall. He felt sorry for building it. When children saw him, they ran away. The garden became winter like again. He called out the children and said, “It is your garden. Come and play freely.”

In the evening, when they came to him to say goodbye, he asked them about the little child. They said they did not know. The Giant loved him the most. Now due to children’s frequent visits the spring returned.

Many years passed. The Giant had become old. He could not play anymore. One day suddenly he saw the little child he had loved. He went downstairs and walked near him. However, he felt angry to see his wounded palms and feet. On asking who had wounded him, he replied, “These are the wounds of love.”At this, the Giant fell on his feet, “I’ll let you play in my garden which is paradise” said the little child, “Because you let me play in your garden once.”

Before her adoption, Karen had a rough pair of red shoes; now she has her foster mother buy her a pair of red shoes fit for a princess. Karen is so enamored of her new shoes that she wears them to church, but the old lady told her "it's highly improper and you must only wear black shoes in church". But next Sunday, Karen cannot resist to put the red shoes on again. As she is about to enter the church, she meets a mysterious old soldier with a red beard. "Oh, what beautiful shoes for dancing," the soldier says. "Never come off when you dance," he tells the shoes, and he taps the shoes of each with his hand. After church, Karen cannot resist taking a few dance steps, and off she goes, as though the shoes controlled her, but she finally manages to stop them for a few minutes.

After her adoptive mother becomes ill and passes away, Karen can't even attend her foster mother's funeral. And then an angel appears to her, bearing a sword, and condemns her to dance even after she dies, as a warning to vain children everywhere. Karen begs for mercy but the red shoes take her away before she hears the angel's reply.

Karen finds an executioner and asks him to chop off her feet. He does so but the shoes continue to dance, even with Karen's amputated feet inside them. The executioner gives her a pair of wooden feet and crutches, Thinking that she has suffered enough for the red shoes, Karen decides to go to church so people can see her. Yet her amputated feet, still in the red shoes, dance before her, barring the way. The following Sunday she tries again, thinking she is at least as good as the others in church, but again the dancing red shoes bar the way.

When Sunday comes again Karen dares not go to church. Instead she sits alone at home and prays to God for help. The angel reappears, now bearing a spray of roses, and gives Karen the mercy she asked for: her heart becomes so filled with peace, and joy that it bursts. Her soul flies on to Heaven, where no one mentions the red shoes.

Hansel and Gretel are the children of a poor wood cutter. Fearing starvation, the wood cutter's wife—the children's step-mother—convinces him to lead the children into the forest, and abandon them there. Hansel and Gretel hear her plan, and gather white pebbles, to leave themselves a trail home. After their return, their stepmother again convinces the wood cutter to abandon them; this time however, they can only leave a trail of breadcrumbs. Unfortunately, the various animals of the woods eat their trail of breadcrumbs causing Hansel and Gretel to become lost.

Lost in the forest, they find a house made of bread (later versions call it gingerbread), with sugar windows, which they begin to eat. The inhabitant of the house, an old woman, invites them in and prepares a feast for them. The woman, however, is a witch who has built the house to entice children to her, so that she may fatten and eat them. She cages Hansel, and makes Gretel her servant. While she prepares to boil Hansel, she tells Gretel to climb into an oven to be sure it is ready to bake; but Gretel guesses that the witch intends to bake her, and tricks the witch into climbing into the oven, closing it behind her.

Taking jewels from the witch's house, they set off for home to be reunited with their father, whose wife has since died. Chicken Licken is scared of anything and everything. One day, he’s sitti ng under a tree when an acorn falls on his head. Chicken Licken doesn’t see the acorn and thinks the sky must be falling. He decides he must warn the King. On the way to the palace, he meets Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky, Goosey
Loosey and Turkey Lurkey. He tells each of them in turn that the sky is falling, and they all agree to go with him to the palace.

In the forest, they meet Foxy Loxy, who pretends to show them a shortcut to the palace. The shortcut turns out to be Foxy Loxy’s den. Foxy Loxy is just about to gobble them all up when an acorn falls on his head. He thinks the sky must really be falling, and runs away in fright. Once upon a time, there were a little old woman and a little old man who lived in a little cottage near the river . The little old woman and the little old man were hungry, so the little old woman decided to bake a gingerbread man .

She made a big batch of gingerbread dough, then rolled it flat and cut it in the shape of a gingerbread man . She gave him raisins for eyes , a cinnamon drop for a mouth , and chocolate chips for buttons . Then she put the gingerbread man in the oven to bake.

When the gingerbread man was done, the little old woman opened the oven door, but before she could take him out, the gingerbread man jumped up and ran through the kitchen and out of the cottage shouting, "Don't eat me!"
The little old woman ran after the gingerbread man . "Stop," she yelled. But the gingerbread man ran even faster, chanting, "Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man ."

The gingerbread man ran into the garden and passed the little old man . "Stop," the little old man called out, "I want to eat you." But the gingerbread man ran even faster, chanting, "I've run away from a little old woman , and I can run away from you, I can. Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man ."

The little old man chased the gingerbread man , followed by the little old woman . But the gingerbread man ran too fast for them.

The gingerbread man ran through the yard and passed a pig . "Stop," the pig snorted, "I want to eat you." But the gingerbread man ran even faster, chanting, "I've run from a little old woman and a little old man , and I can run away from you, I can. Run, run as fast as you can. The horse chased the gingerbread man , followed by the cow , the pig , and the little old woman and the little old man . But the gingerbread man ran too fast for them.

Then the gingerbread man reached a wide river , but he didn't know how to swim. A sly and hungry fox saw the gingerbread man and said, "Jump on my tail, and I'll take you across the river !"

The gingerbread man thought to himself, "I'll be safe on his tail." So he jumped on the fox's tail and they started across the river .

Halfway across the river , the fox barked, "You're too heavy for my tail, jump on my back." So the gingerbread man jumped on the fox's back.

Soon, the fox said, You're too heavy for my back, jump onto my nose." So the gingerbread man jumped on the fox's nose. But as soon as they reached the riverbank, the fox flipped the gingerbread man into the air, snapped his mouth shut, and ate the gingerbread man .

Once, a hare saw a tortoise walking slowly with a heavy shell on his back. The hare was very proud of himself and he asked the tortoise. “Shall we have a race?"

The tortoise agreed. They started the running race. The hare ran very fast. But the tortoise walked very slowly. The proud hair rested under a tree and soon slept off. But the tortoise walked very fast, slowly and steadily and reached the goal. At last, the tortoise won the race.

Moral : Pride goes before a fall.

A Lion lay asleep in the forest, his great head resting on his paws. A timid little Mouse came upon him unexpectedly, and in her fright and haste to get away, ran across the Lion's nose. Roused from his nap, the Lion laid his huge paw angrily on the tiny creature to kill her.

"Spare me!" begged the poor Mouse. "Please let me go and some day I will surely repay you."

The Lion was much amused to think that a Mouse could ever help him. But he was generous and finally let the Mouse go.

Some days later, while stalking his prey in the forest, the Lion was caught in the toils of a hunter's net. Unable to free himself, he filled the forest with his angry roaring. The Mouse knew the voice and quickly found the Lion struggling in the net. Running to one of the great ropes that bound him, she gnawed it until it parted, and soon the Lion was free.

"You laughed when I said I would repay you," said the Mouse. "Now you see that even a Mouse can help a Lion."

The story is about a boy named Peter who lives with his grandfather. Grandfather does not want Peter going out of their garden because there are wolves around. One day Peter goes out the garden gate and sees a duck swimming in a nearby pond. The duck is arguing with a little bird. Peter sees a cat approaching and warns the little bird who flies up into a tree.

Just then, Peter's grandfather comes outside and scolds Peter for going out of the garden. They go back into the garden and Grandfather locks the gate. Soon a wolf does appear from the woods. The cat climbs a tree to escape the wolf, but the duck is swallowed by the hungry wolf. Peter gets a rope and climbs over the garden wall into a tree. The bird distracts the wolf by flying over his head while Peter lowers a noose and catches the wolf by his tail.

Hunters then come out of the woods and fire at the wolf but Peter stops them. A little girl named Goldilocks, goes for a walk in the forest and comes upon a house where she enters and finds to her delight three bowls of porridge. The first one she tastes is too hot, the next too cold but the third one just right so she eats it all up. Goldilocks finds the three different size chairs where she tries them out and finds the first one too hard, the next too soft, and then the little one just right but it breaks when she sits in it. As she wonders in the home she finds three beds and tries them out. The first bed is too hard, the next too soft but the third is just right and she curls up and falls asleep. Meanwhile the owners come home who happen to be three bears, Papa, Mama and little baby bear. Much to their surprise they discover the outcome of what Goldilocks has done to their porridge, chairs and finally their beds.
