A common disabling chronic neurological disorder characterized by an enduring propensity. Stem cell therapy is a promising treatment for the condition. The regenerative properties of stem cell-based treatment provide an approach for long-term seizure control, particularly in drug-resistant epilepsy. With the use of stem cells, we are able to replace damaged cells from seizures, restore cognitive function and stabilize focal electrical activity. This works by implanting healthy human brain cells into the damaged temporal lobe, which is what can lead to uncontrollable seizures if left unhealthy.
