The point is that everyone must do something, maybe if a single person recycles a water bottle it wouldn't have a big impact, but if ten thousand persons recycled a water bottle it would be different. The collective act of small actions from the community alone makes a difference in this world, but of course that doesn't mean we can't do better.

Sustainability is the study of how natural systems function, interact, and create what is needed for the ecology to remain balanced. It refers to the need of developing the models necessary so that society and the environment can thrive.
The Earth Charter includes in their definition of sustainability the idea of a global society "founded on respect for nature, universal human rights, economic justice, and a culture of peace".

For me, sustainability is getting what we need from the environment (natural resources, for example) in a way that benefits both parties and doesn't potentially harm the future. It is taking care of our environment and our society through responsible decisions, actions, and plans.

I think I do make sustainable choices sometimes by avoiding disposable packages, saving energy, recycling paper, and trying to be efficient with my means but I don't always consciously take care of the environment. For contributing to sustainability, we could all try to save energy, buy reusable food containers, avoid pre-packaged products, create facilities for recycling, make efficient use of paper, get natural resources responsibly, etc...

What is Sustainability?

According to Environmental Science, sustainability can have two meanings. It is how the environment works together to keep a balance in nature. Also, it is the discipline that some people acquire to understand more about environment and social sciences. The goal of sustainability is to protect our environment by informing us more about it. http://www.environmentalscience.org/sustainability

For me, sustainability is making a product that helps the environment by working by itself. For example, creating windmills is sustainability, because people created it so that i can work without the help of people. This way, the people can worry about creating more sustainable objects to protect our environment. I believe that my community needs more sustainability, mostly because right now we are facing a serious pollution problem. Currently, not many people are caring about having a better environment in our community. What we should do is take this issue seriously and start taking action. Even the smallest things we do, like picking up trash, can contribute to sustainability. And it is also important to inform ourselves about our environment so that we can take care of it.

"What Is Sustainability and Why Is It Important?" I promote recycling and throw the trash in corresponding places, I also tend to pick up others trash when it is in the floor.
What could you, or people in your community do to contribute to sustainability?
I honestly think we can reduce the use of cars by promoting carpooling because many people live nearby and can easily ride together since they go to the same places at the same hours. Bruntland Report for the World Commission on Environment and Development (1992). For me, it means the that society has to reach a certain level of awareness in helping the earth in order for future generations not to be harmed. Its our responsibility as humans to take care of the planet. I dont think im helping my community to be a sustainable one. Im not doing enough. I could start by using less gasoline and less light. I want to buy myself an electric car later to help the environment.

What is sutentability?

Sustainability has often been defined as how biological systems endure and remain diverse and productive. But, the 21st-century definition of sustainability goes far beyond these narrow parameters. Today, it refers to the need to develop the sustainable models necessary for both the human race and planet Earth to survive.

http://www.sustainabilitydegrees.com/what-is-sustainability/

What does sustainability mean to you?

The ability to sustain environment using resources to survive for example energy.

Do you think you contribute to making your community a sustainable one?

Not really, I personally do not contribute to a sustainable society, I would really like to be able to participate but in a city like ours, it is very complicated, we live in an industrial city and having a sustainable environment is very hard.

What could you, or people in your community do to contribute to sustainability?

The hardest part of contributing to sustainability, in my opinion, is changing your routines and what you do everyday. Sustainability would complicate things to many people and another of the hardest parts in contributing is convincing other people to take part in it. But there are many ways to contribute, such as using natural light throughout the day instead of artificial light. Doing carpools for school and work and simply placing trash in the proper recycling bins. People are simply lazy and careless, that is why transitioning our community to a sustainable one is basically impossible if it is not implemented on the new generations.

We can gather money and ask the support of the government to buy solar panels and place them to get energy too supply at least with a 10% of the energy that we used on our community.

The idea of sustainability stems from the concept of sustainable development which became common language at the World's first Earth Summit in Rio in 1992. Sustainability has often been defined as how biological systems endure and remain diverse and productive

2. What does Sustainability mean for you?

I think sustainability means something that can supports by its own, thus, is something that can live in earth with out damaging the environment, this thing can live by its own, because of the natural resources, like water, heat …

3. Do you contribute to making your community a sustainable one?

Yes, few years ago, we put on our house, types of windows that can multiply light by the form they were created. Also, my Dad is a member of a company that produce a type of turbines, that produce energy with natural gas, this turbines are sell to big companies that need to pay a lot of money for light.

4. What could you or people in your community do to contribute to sustainability

Its easy, we all need to become aware of what is happening in our world, in this way, we can act on, and start with our houses and cars, now a days you can put solar panels or use electric cars, that don’t pollute our enviorment
