At the 50th Junior High School of Kalamata, the schoolyard has different types of surfaces. There is asphalt on the main playground, tiles in the walking areas, some grass in certain spots, and some shaded areas under trees or roofs. Each surface heats up differently in the sun. The asphalt becomes the hottest because its dark color absorbs more heat. The tiles also get warm, but usually less than the asphalt. The grass stays cooler because it contains moisture and reflects more sunlight. Shaded areas remain the coolest because the sunlight does not hit them directly. This shows how different materials and shade affect temperature in our school environment.

At Fatih Secondary School, there are various types of surfaces in the schoolyard. Asphalt is used in the playground areas, tiles on the walking paths, grassy areas in some parts, and shaded spots under trees. These surfaces heat up differently when exposed to sunlight. Students measured the temperatures of these surfaces to observe which areas became warmer. Dark-colored asphalt was the hottest, while grass and shaded areas remained the coolest. Through these measurements, students realized how the materials used in their environment affect temperature. At the same time, by making observations and collecting data, they evaluated their school from a different perspective and participated in the process as conscious individuals who introduced the physical features of their school.
