What color should Zwarte Piet be? That is the annually recurring question around December. Proponents of Zwarte Piet see the helper of Sinterklaas as an innocent tradition. Opponents see him as a symbol of racism.
Nowadays there are Piets with soot smears(in Dutch:roetveeg Pieten). Some of them have faces with many colors.

History of Purple Friday

Purple Friday is a day in December on which pupils and students can show their solidarity with LGBTIQ+ people by wearing the color purple at school. In the Netherlands, the day has been held on the second Friday of December every year since 2010. Purple Friday is inspired by Spirit Day in the United States, which was first observed in 2010 as an expression against bullying of LGBTIQ+ youth.

Purple Friday is traditionally celebrated in schools, but in recent years we have seen higher education and corporate workplaces embrace this celebration of solidarity with the LGBTIQ+ community.

Cultural Heritage: The Homomonument in Amsterdam

The Homomonument is a memorial on the Westermarkt, located between the Westerkerk and the Keizersgracht in the center of Amsterdam. Unveiled on September 5, 1987, the memorial consists of three pink granite triangles, arranged to form a large triangle.

It serves to commemorate all gay men and women who have been persecuted for their sexual orientation and to inspire and support them in their struggle for recognition, and against oppression and discrimination.

It is known that in the Netherlands from the fifteenth century the shoe was put on around the name day of Saint Nicholas. Initially this happened in the church, but later the shoe was also put at home. In Utrecht, children from 1427 are said to have put their shoes in the Sint Nicolaaskerk. The rich threw in some and the proceeds were distributed to the poor.
