Icelandic is a North German language derived from Old Norse and is spoken by at least 300,000 of the 336,00 residents. It has changed throughout the centuries. English in Iceland is extensively articulated and understood. In addition to English, children must study danish or other Scandavian languages. This means that Icelanders are trilingual.
