I feel conflicted because I absolutely agree with the ideas in the Camanigan and Cariaga article that history of oppression and ongoing systemic inequalities need to be addressed in order to not perpetuate them, but I also believe that in the same way that students can internalize being oppressed, they can internalize the idea that everyone around them sees them as an oppressor because they are white. I know that I internalized that as a young person and grew up with a deep sense of shame, even though my beliefs and actions were far from shameful. I'm wondering how to go about it in a way that doesn't make any students, white or POC, feel like there is something wrong with them or that people see them as bad.
