In the beginning of the war, the U.S. government tried to keep the home front from panic, by making few statements on what was going on across the seas. There was not much that the American people knew about what was going on. Throughout the war, it was not heavily reported on compared to how much WWII was. It was a long war, long negotiations and long back and forth between the sides, it was not a world changing war, so the American public lost interest in a non-victory war.

When the time came for the nation to set aside the war and bring a place of remembrance for the people who served in the hard fighting war and long 3 years of brutal weather in both summer and winter they made this memorial. They have statues of some of the soldiers who lost there life in this war. On the bourder of this memorial there are names of the Korean War veterans who fought and died in the war. This is also a beautiful place to see. You could be talking with your family or friends and when you come to the memorial you atimatically become silent. Everyone just becomes quite in honor for those who have died in the war. I highly reccomend people to come and see this memorial. It just brings so much of the fight to come into your life and it mkes you believe that the war really made a great loss in both AMerican, Korean, and Soviet Union lives.

- The 38th Parallel was created and split the North and South in Korea. This is still guarded day and night by both American and Korean soldiers
- After the Japan surrendered in 1945 America took control of the South, and the Soviet Union took control of the North.
- Truman was deeply concerned of about the spread of communism
- Truman also wanted to prevent Russia from gaining any more territory and believed that communist North Korea was the Russian's first step towards world domination. So because of this, he had no other choice but to stop the North Korean Army after they invaded the South, in June of 1950.
- At first North Korean forces were victorious, they nearly drove South Korean and U.S. troops completely out of the country by August. But, with the help of the United Nations, the U.S. forces resupplied and rallied, recapturing the South Korean capital of Seoul in September.
- May of 1951, the armies were more or less at a stalemate. For the next two years, neither side gained any significant ground, although fighting did continue both on land and in the air.
- Peace talk started in the Summer of 1951, shortly after the start of the stalemate.
- President Dwight Eisenhower took office in 1953, and Eisenhower was determined to end the war.
- After a few more months of negotiation, the armistice was signed in July, ending the three-plus-year slag of fighting.
- McArthur was fired from his military duties after Trumen found out he was illegally lobbying his views in congress.
- 36,000 American troops were killed during the war
- 100,000 soldiers were wounded
- 620,00 soldiers from both North and South Korea were killed
- More disturbingly 1.6 million citizens were killed throughout the Korean Peninsula
- The 38th parallel is still up today and leaves 4,400 yards of empty space that separates both sides. This is also known as the Demilitarized Zone
