Although in this current reality I would be unhappy with this assignment (& I would much prefer the assignment of an engineer) I believe if I were to be raised in that society I would be ecstatic if the Committee of Elders had given me the assignment of Nurturer. I believe this because in their society everyone is raised in a specific manner in which everyone is an equal to the others. However, I was inspired to become an engineer/architect by people who weren't equals and are above average, so I believe that if I weren't inspired to become an architect I would be drawn towards a job that interacts with small children, such as a Nurturer. So, I believe this would lead me to spending the majority of my volunteer time at the Nurturing center, then the elders would notice this and would assign me Nurturer. Another reason why I believe this is because I would like to consider myself as a generally caring and gentle person and I feel these qualities would be ideal for a Nurturer and if the Committee of Elders noticed this they may give me the position of Nurturer. I believe this, because to me I'm a crafty type of person. I really love making old things into new ones, especially making things out of cardboard. Once I see some random cardboard scraps laying around, I can almost instantly think of what to make it into from small model homes, to many other things, to me there are endless possibilities. Another reason why I believe my Assignment would be an Architect, is because I also like to draw. I mean, Architects have to have plans before going right into a project. I don't do much drawing as I do crafting things, however I really enjoy it as something to do in my free time. Usually I like drawing cartoony looking characters, and even though I draw cartoon like things, I believe it's still a good skill to have for Architecture. In my point of view, if I were attending the Ceremony of Twelve with Jonas, the Assignment the Elders would give me is Doctor. Fist off,  I have a bright and unique personality, AND EVERYBODY WILL SEE THAT. When dealing with patients, they would feel soothed and calm. That helps me so much, so I may not need to worry about wails of pain or any sort of negativity. In a community like Jonas', I believe that my job as doctor would be a little easier than in reality. (Even without my attitude, patients would still be attentive and brave, but my emotions STILL HELP!!!) In addition, I believe I am smart enough to become a doctor. Since the Elders HAVE TIME TO OBSERVE ELEVENS, they would see that I am very good in math and science, (maybe by how I act daily.) These subjects would mainly be used when you are a doctor, which gives me a higher chance OF BECOMING ONE. Most of the time, doctors have a high education, and that is what I am aiming for. (Even after learning your Life Assignment, you still have a chance to attend school, so you would be equally educated like others.) As you can see, these are the reasons why I believe that Doctor would be the Assignment the Elders would choose for me if I attended the Ceremony of Twelve with Jonas. One of the reasons why I want and deserve the assignment of a Nurturer, is because I love hanging out with children. Although I still do wish to get a more advanced assignment (for example, a engineer or a builder), I would still be ecstatic of helping children and taking care of them. The reason why I want the job Nurturer is because with my parents teaching me how to take care of myself first-handedly, I  know what is right and what to do to take care of children. Although it seems bad on the outside, who doesn't want to get paid to play with children? It's probably one of the most fun jobs out thtere that still give you a good pay, as taking care and playing around with Ones and Zeros(?) can sometimes be hard.  $61,874 for the average salary while having fun? Being in Utopia society they most likely won't judge if I was better than the other Elevens around me. (However, they might still take that into account.) I believe, that they would look into my records, or take observations on my actions (e.x. volunteering, school records, and what I do when playing). Also, as of late in real life I have quite often been helping my mother with her job, which is pathology and medicine so the Elders would be able to take into account about this detail while observing me. But, I also believe that your personality and actions take roll into what your Assignment is. When I play outside, (or in this case with the other Elevens) if someone were to get hurt I would most likely be the one to take care of the person who got injured. Now you may say, "Well wouldn't that make you to be a Nurturer?" No, it would not. Yes, while a Nurturer would take care of people it would mostly be in the youngest demographic (newborns) not the pre-teens. Furthermore, I can help solve conflict. Conflicts play part into mental health which partially, but surely play into being a doctor. Therapy is part of health, however it may not be as much of an important skill since "The Giver" is taking place in a Utopia. (Please take into account that I am mostly looking at this through my perspective in real life, not through the impression that I would have been raised differently in a Utopian society.)

(This is Jonas's mom job.) The one main reason why Jonas's community is different from our society is because it is a Utopia society meaning that everything is peaceful but in a certain "strict" order. This means that they won't joke on giving somebody a job, because the community might depend on that person. So, the elders will make careful decisions. This means that there would be a possible chance that the elders will look at my grades, social skills and my community or volunteering hours. My grades aren't that bad, my social skill is, "ok" and I will probably volunteer in the place where Jonas's mom works and pretend to enjoy it. Also, the department of justice make good decision. This means that when my friend are arguing somewhere, (especially when there is a elder in front of me) I will counsel them or help them make some sort of compromise. Though there are hundreds of Assignments looming around the Community, I believe that the Elders would decide on Nurturer because of my love of infants. Considering that the Elders would be taking notes/observations of me, along with the rest of the Elevens in school, volunteering, what I do in my spare time, etc. If I was to live in the Community, I would most- likely use my volunteer hours in the nurturing center, especially when it drew near to December. I would probably experiment with other careers, but all in all I would be drawn back to nurturing. I am very reliable being left alone with infants/toddlers, and I enjoy spending time with smaller children.
