         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Maleeka Madison - </strong>She is the main character and this book is based on her. she is the victim in this book because her skin is darker than others. she is burdened with low self esteem which most black girls feel when they are darker skinned<strong><br>Maleeka's Mom - </strong>she was there by Maleeka's side and supported her all l the way through. when Maleeka was sad and upset she would always go to her mom because her dad died in a car accident when Maleeka was very young <br>M<strong>iss Saunders - </strong>One<strong> </strong>of<strong> </strong>Maleeka's teachers. Her skin, which is blotched with a rare skin condition comes to serve as a mirror to Maleeka's struggle. She is a role model for Maleeka as she comes to terms with the people around her and the skin she's in<strong><br>Charlese Jones - </strong>She is one of the perpetrators in this story. Maleeka considers her as her friend even though all she does is use her<strong><br>Caleb - </strong>He respects and loves Maleeka. He is one of the only people who respect and accept Maleeka for who she is. Both of them Had a crush on each other  <br><strong>John John McIntyre - </strong>another<strong> </strong>perpetrator. He bullies Maleeka by calling her black and he has a whole song about her He doesn't play a big part in this story<br><strong>Sweets - </strong>She is Maleeka's best friend both of them love talking for hours on the phone. Both of them used to go to the same school until middle school started when sweets was sent to a better school<strong><br></strong><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the book the skin I'm in by Sharon G Flake, Maleeka Madison is in 7th Grade and attends McClenton Middle School. In school, Maleeka is Bullied and not treated fairly only because her skin is darker than most other people.She is burdened by low self esteem and doesn't like her own skin color but when Miss Saunders comes to teach at her school, Maleeka is influenced by Miss Saunders and she learns to love herself. Miss Saunders skin is blotched with a Rare skin condition and Maleeka feels that Miss Saunders is worse off than she is. Miss Saunders is tough and does not stand up for the snickers and shouts that students hurl at her. She is a role mode for Maleeka struggle and she helps Maleeka find her hidden Talent which is writing. Writing helps Maleeka escape from the hopelessness and loneliness. Charlese Jones is Maleeka's Friend or at least Maleeka thinks she is. Maleeka Always follows Char around and listens to her because she thinks that it makes her fit in, but all Char does is use Maleeka. Once When Char wanted to Prank Miss Saunders She forced Maleeka to set a Pile of Cash on fire. Maleeka ended up setting the whole Classroom on fire. Char and her friends ran away leaving Maleeka alone. When Miss Saunders asked Maleeka who did this Char wanted Maleeka to not say anything about her being involved in but Maleeka said the truth because of all the support Miss Saunders had given her. Maleeka's Mom is Supportive of Maleeka and every choice she makes. Maleeka learns to love herself and her skin color and grows as a character throughout this book</div>]]></description>
