I learned that ancient eastern civilizations were different from western civilization because the dynasties seemed to be a bit more currupt with fluctuating people In power. Another Idea that shows how eastern civilizations developed differently is that eastern civilizations were much more secluded compared to western civilization creating a dense culture.

I learned that Eastern Civilizations were more prone to crumble from inside their dynasties by way of corruption and totalitarianism rather than warfare outside the state. An obvious example of this would be the Qin Dynasty. Eastern Civilizations were not as affected by the clash of cultures inside their state as European Civilizations, because their cultural geography. This is most likely why many Dynasties were able to gain the power of previous failed dynasties, something the Roman Civilization was not able to do.

Although they built the Great Wall as a form of defense against nomadic invaders, the real problem was included in their civilization. One example of this would be the constant changing of dynasties and their fluctuating expansion.

I learned that although dynasty’s take place in the same area, they can experience very stark contrasts in the way the run their society’s. Major Dynastys like the Qin and Han seem very similar on the outside, yet if you take a closer look they are very different. One major difference between these two dynasties is their view on history. The Qin wanted to erase all evidence of past civilizations, placing importance on their own dynasty. While the Han were much more involved in history, and even created some of the most influential scholars in Ancient Chinese history. As well as learning about these dynasty’s I learned about their seemingly unavoidable fate. I learned that almost all dynasty’s fell, and and were replaced by new rule in a constant cycle. By learning about the past and the way societies functioned we can learn and help shape a better future.

For instance High taxation and the nationalization of industry are two key characteristics of a corrupt government. Additionally, In a way the Qin attempted to nationalizes certain mediums of information, for instance by burning books from the past.
