Battle of Britain is the name for the first all-air battle in history. British and German air-forces clashed together in the skies over the UK. Many civilians and soldiers lost their lives in these battles, and the war ended when the German air-forces failed to gain superiority over the Royal forces of Britain even though they tried for months to target their air bases, military posts, and not least, murdering many civilians. Britain’s victory saved the country from ground invasion and furthermore occupation by German forces. So, Britain’s air-forces showed that a job in the air could be used to win a major battle.

In the 1940’s, on the 17th of June, the Frenchmen signed an armistice and were therefore not longer a part of the WW2. Living Britain alone against the Nazi Germans which had conquered most of the western Europe in just a couple of months. Most of Britain’s then wanted to team up with Hitler, but the Prime Minister (Winston Churchill) were stubborn and got his people back on their feet’s to outmanoeuvre Adolf Hitler and German air-forces.

What many people don’t know is that Britain was more favourable than the German air forces at the time the Battle of Britain happened. They had an effective air defence system, they had some of the best fighter pilots in the world and one of the greatest military leaders in Air, Marshal Hugh Dowding who had lead the air-forces in both the wars and had the Dowdingsystem called up after him. Who was an advanced way of attacking in the air which lead the Britain’s to success.

Germans special air forces didn’t have the qualifications and weren’t prepared for an air-battle against the Britain’s. They had some major problems at the time the Battle of Britain started, at first, they had no navy left after a conquest of Norway that were very costly. Their army was very unprepared for this amphibious operation against such a big a major country as England, and they had also suffered allot of losses in the west so the British men were most prepared for this fight.

On September, the 7th, 1940, came the first attack from the Germans, and this attack was quite successful in their eyes, but the second attack on the 15th of September weren’t that successful. The Britain special air-forces were prepared for a new German attack and took down many of their flights and men. This lead to a collapse of moral in the German crews. Because of all this, Hitler postponed landings on the isles of UK permanently, and suspended the Battle of Britain. This felt like a win for the British forces.
