      <description>Based in the Jamaica section of the New York City borough of Queens, Dr. Marjorie Hill has served clients as a psychologist and consultant since 2001. Between 2015 and 2019, she pulled back from her concentration in psychotherapy to focus on her work as the Chief Executive Officer of the Joseph Addabbo Family Health Center in Far Rockaway. She excelled as a fundraiser in this capacity, raising $23 million for a facility expansion and increasing government support by $7 million, and continues to provide fundraising technical support in her work as an organizational consultant. As a psychologist, Dr. Marjorie Hill has developed expertise in several areas, including cultural competency and public health advocacy.

Dr. Hill graduated from the Adelphi University Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies with a Ph.D in clinical psychology in 1981. She managed a private psychotherapy practice and established herself as a member of several professional organizations during her career. These include the New York Association of Black Psychologists and the American Psychological Association. In addition, she serves on the Queens District Attorney’s LGBTQ Advisory Council and is Chair of the NYS AIDS Advisory Board.</description>

         <title>How Public Health Strengthens Health Systems</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Public health systems, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), encompass all organizations, individuals, and actions whose fundamental goal is to promote, restore, or preserve health. This encompasses both indirect preventive and therapeutic interventions, as well as attempts to optimize the delivery of health services. Successful health promotion also includes maintenance of functional health information system, promulgation of an efficient health workforce, and equal access to essential medical products, technologies, and vaccines. Adequate financing, leadership, and governance are critical components to developing solid public health initiatives. Health system strengthening is broadly defined as actions aimed at improving a country’s ability to successfully execute the key duties outlined by the World Health Organization.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
