         <description><![CDATA[<div>Unrestricted submarine warfare was first introduced in World War One in early 1915-1916, when Germany declared the area around the British Isles a war zone, in which all merchant ships, including those from neutral countries, would be attacked by the German navy. This 'unrestricted submarine warfare' angered neutral countries, especially the United States an the the tactic was stopped.</div>]]></description>

With this attack, the Germans determined that they could not win the war, and Kaiser abdicated. German armistice followed on November 11, 1918. The German attack and the battle following it would last over 300 days. The high casualties was a leading factor in Britain's decision to start the Battle of the Somne, in hopes to release some of Germany's pressure on France.</div>]]></description>
