hi,i'm Minh.today i'd like to talk about the Kho-mu people.In Vietnam, the Khmu people are one of the 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. The Khmu people are the indigenous inhabitants of northern Laos. Currently, there are about 479,249-540,000 Kho Mu people around the world, 72,929 people (in 2009) in Vietnam. In Vietnam, they live mainly in the Northern and North Central provinces such as Nghe An, Son La, Lai Chau, Lao Cai and Yen Bai have 90,612 people according to the 2019 census. In the Kho Mu family, husband and wife are equal and faithful. The Khmu people have the custom of getting married for a year, then bringing the wife back to their house. When staying at the wife's house, the husband changes his last name to his wife, and if there are children, the children follow the mother's name, whereas when returning to the husband's house, the wife has to change the last name to her husband and the children take the father's last name. People of the same clan cannot marry, but her son can marry his daughter. In marriage and in family life, the uncle plays a very important role in the grandchildren. The Khmu people do not develop weaving, so they often buy clothes and dresses from the Thai people to wear. The Kho Mu nuance shown in the costumes has almost faded, although women's jewelry still has a few distinct points.
