every time that Mr. Dark shows up the order established turns into chaos, for example before Mr.Dark and his carnival came to town it was peaceful and non-problematic. As soon as Mr.Dark's carnival came their whole world was turn't upside down. before the chaos the boy's lives were peaceful and calm. "But you take October, now. Schools been on a month and you're riding easier in reins, jogging along." But suddenly after Mr.Dark came all of this chocking chaos happened. "Will felt Jim's wrist there was nothing and when he put his ear to his chest there was nothing. 'He's dead!" Their world was thrown upside down, Jim was dead.

Will had the temptation to kill the witch because he didn't want her to report back to Mr.Dark about him and Jim so he came up with a plan and grabbed his bow and arrows " Sorry, Dad, he thought, and sat up, smiling. This time it's me out, alone. I don't want her going back and report on us for hours, maybe days. He grabbed the bow and quiver from the wall, hesitated, thinking, then stealthily ran the window up and leaned out." Will ended up killing the witch, after running into houses and his bow and arrow breaking, by popping the balloon ,with the broken arrow by throwing it, that she had with her " ...Will with one free hand drew back and with all his strength threw the arrowhead flint up at the balloon flesh...gabbled, moaned, blistered her lips, shrieked in protest, and Will hung fast, hands gripped to wicker, kicking legs, as the balloon wailed, whiffled, guzzled, mourned its own swift gaseous death." Will's temptation killed the witch but Will also put his life in danger by trying to do so.

Good vs. Evil - Liana Castellano

Good vs. Evil is a very apparent theme in Something Wicked This Way Comes. This isn’t just referring to heroes vs. villains (even though that also is a part of the story) it also deals with characters internal struggles with this idea of being “good.” Two of the characters that go through this and have been made very clear about it are Will and Charles Halloway. Will does not know if he’s good or evil, because of the things he’s done in the span of the book. He also has no clear understanding of what this means.
So, Will asks his father "Dad? Am I a good person?"
Charles responds "I think so. I know so, yes." Charles changes his answer from ‘think’ to ‘know’ probably because he was also unsure of what it truly means to be good.
Will then asks "Will – will that help when things get really rough?" Then Charles states “It’ll help.”
I believe that Charles thinks that being good will infact help, but will not be enough to fight against evil.
Charles is also like a guide away from evil for the boys, as they get too caught up in the evil side of life, (the carnival, Mr. Dark, the Witch, the carousel, etc.)

End of Innocence - Ravyn Cato

The end of innocence is a huge part of this story, because every adult in the story wishes to be young again and they think being young is to be happy and innocent from the cruel world. Like how Will's dad miss being a kid and he thinks he can't do anything because he's old. Just like that moment in chapter 3, were he is offered a drink by a man who says that it would help, but he say he doesn't need it but takes it any way and said it was for someone else."I don't need it.. But someone inside me does'. 'Who..The boy I once was,..." .And that someone else is the young boy that was once there inside of him. So, in the book every adult male feels old when ever they hit a certain age, but they also feel as though that they have just lost their innocence of a child once they had grown up.

Characteristics:
Looks: Jim's looks shows the readers how Jim might act later within the story, like how his green eyes are like in a daze to everybody but he's actually in deep thought with in himself. "His hair was wild, thick, and the glossy color of waxed chestnuts. His eyes, fixed to some distant point within himself , were mint rock-crystal green." This is also showing he might have a little darker outlet to the world unlike his friend,Will, who has a bit brighter look to the world.

How his action affect others: Jim is quick to think and act, which resolves into him hurting other by accident with out him meaning to, even though he doesn't want to be hurt by others. "Don't say 'sure' that way. You don't know until you've had three children and lot all but one..Never going to have any, said Jim...You just say that..I know it.I know everything. She waited a moment..."This shows how his actions affects his mother, because he doesn't think on what his mom might feel when he said that, so he thought without considering his mother's feelings.

The Carousel has a big role in the story especially when we find out the true powers of the carousel. The carousel impacted peoples lives such as when Jim said that he wanted to ride it so he can become older " 'When I’m older, darn it, older!'Jim spat.As if he was struck by lightning, Will jumped back... Look! the merry-go-round! you want it to go forward, don’t you, Jim? forward instead of back! and you on it, around once and you’re fifteen, circling and you’re sixteen, three times more and nineteen! music! and you’re twenty and off, standing tall! not Jim any more, still thirteen, almost fourteen on the empty midway..." Will felt betrayed by this action and affected him in a way that he felt that he needed to protect Jim for the rest of the story, so Will became a more brave and determined person than he was in the beginning.

Characteristics:
Things they say: Throughout the story, it has been made very clear that Charles misses being a child and believes that he is too old to do anything. This is even made apparent to the readers in the third chapter in the book when a man offers Charles a drink that was mentioned as the “Cure-all” he states, “I don’t need it.. But someone inside me does.” He says this referring to the child inside of him, his inner child. Charles as a character represents that your physical age can be different from your state of mind.

How he effects others/What he thinks: Even though he believes he is too old, it is his age and knowledge that helps the boys in the end. Through the story Charles thinks his age is holding him back, that he was too old and couldn’t do anything. But, at heart he is heroic and youthful and this helps him overcome the challenges him and the boys face, and towards of the end of the storied he realizes this. He realizes that it doesn’t matter how old he will become, what matters is what you will do with your knowledge and skill, regardless of age.

Green Town, Illinois - Liana Castellano

The events of Something Wicked take place in a fictional place called Green Town in Illinois. This name is quite ironic, since what happens throughout the story is anything but green. The author’s choice in naming this place ‘Green Town’ is anything but unintentional. When you think of a happy, cheerful, and would probably be filled with nice people and young things. Yet, Green Town is not this. It is filled with evil carnivals and people like the Witch and Mr. Dark. These things are not something you would expect from the name ‘Green Town.’ You could think of the name as being ironic, yet I also believe that this name reflects how the people of the town would like to be. Charles wants to be young, but can not since he is an adult and Will wants to be a good person, but is conflicted about what that truly means. Jim is scared and doubtful while trying to be brave and strong. So, to conclude, there are two ways of interpreting the name of this town; in the way that it’s ironic since nothing in the town is what someone would consider ‘green’ or ‘good.” Or, that this town is like the people in it, old and fearful, yet trying to be the opposite.

And , we all know what kind of chaos that happens when every Mr. Dark comes around. The library is an important part of the story because it shows all the tension that is happening with Mr. Halloway, Will, Jim, and Mr. Dark."By the prickling of my thumbs, Something wicked this way comes..So vague, yet so immense..At the window he looked out and thought, Jim, Will, are you coming... Waiting, his flesh took paleness from his bones." This show how much stress Mr. Halloway is and how much he knows, so he is hoping the boys will get to the library safely without getting hurt from anyone from the carnival, which shows how much tension that is happening in that part of the setting
