Occasion- Conan Gray, talking about the song in an Instagram post revealed that while writing it, he felt extremely lonely since all his friends were in college.

Audience- The audience is Conan's friends. The entire song is for them to realize that he needs them. He wants them to make him feel better.

Purpose- The purpose is to tell his best friends that he wants them to come back from college.  He wants it to go back to the way it was when he didn't feel alone.  He wants them to come back so they can spend time talking and keeping each other company.  

Subject- “Comfort Crowd” is a song for the hardships that we may face and hurt healed only by the closest of friends.

Tone- The song is a moody mid-tempo that speaks to the loneliness we endure when we’re out in the world on our own.  

He is the only person in the song and he kills himself because he cannot handle being alone.  I still think that when he gets killed, another Conan appears and that it is still him.  It is just a sadder version of himself maybe the real one.  The Conan that does not have to appear happy.

I've already hid the body" - He is begging for help but when his friends come around he doesn’t want to bring out his dead body, which is his sadness, so he keeps it tucked away. He only brings out sadness when he is alone. He calls them his friends but he can not share his sadness with them.

Pathos in the song:
My breath's gettin' short and I'm unsteady
 Wellin' up in tears as I lay upon your belly - He is feeling sad and he is crying so hard that his lungs are getting tight. This feeling reminds me of times when I cry so hard that my lung get tight and it gets so hard to breath. So I think this appeals to pathos because it is a deep feeling.

"Yeah, I could spend a lifetime
 Sitting here talkin"- He is feeling happy that he is with his friends. With my best friend that I love so much, I can sit and talk with her for ages. We never have nothing to talk about. And it makes me so happy and I think this is what he is feeling at this moment of the song.

"We mess around
 And laugh too loud"- He is feeling happy to be with his friends and this appeals to feelings because it makes my heart feel full when I think of my friends. This is what he feels, he is remembering about the times when he was with his friends.
